Gisborne Montessori School
Gisborne Montessori School is a small, non-denominational, independent
school, providing primary and pre primary education in accordance with the philosophies of Dr Maria Montessori. It is one
of 5 independent Montessori schools in Victoria currently holding primary registration as well as an early childhood education
(pre-school) license. It is the only Montessori primary school in Victoria that is purpose built on sustainable principles.
The school is nestled
at the foot of Mt Macedon and is set on a 10 acre site on Barringo Road, within walking distance from Gisborne station. New
Gisborne is a picturesque country town graced with tree lined streets forty five minutes from Melbourne.

Families in our school community are drawn from many towns in the district. Some families have relocated to the
area to be closer to the School. The sense of community is built through social functions, working bees and volunteer
committees.
Students, staff and parents are involved in the wider community through participation in community
events, excursions, fundraising for charities, use of local libraries, swimming pools and other local facilities.
